Student Life
At Family Leadership Academy, learning goes far beyond the classroom. Through meaningful relationships, creative projects, and shared experiences, our students grow in confidence, compassion, and commitment to their divine missions.
We offer a rich student life experience grounded in Christlike leadership, joyful community, and family participation.
Youth Program (Ages 12+)
Our youth program is the heart of FLA culture. We focus on creating opportunities for teens to lead, serve, and build deep friendships with purpose.
Key Features:
Student Council – Youth are elected to serve as class officers and lead community events, retreats, and weekly Gathering Time.
Youth-Led Classes – Teens teach 30-minute classes to younger children, helping develop leadership and mentorship skills.
Retreats & Dances – We host fall and winter youth retreats, a Friends of FLA dance, a Christmas service activity, and more.
Scholar Day – For youth seeking academic depth, this separate weekly day offers advanced classes in subjects like logic, writing, programming, and leadership.
Our youth are known for their warmth, creativity, and willingness to include and uplift others. They aren’t “too cool” for connection—they are the lifeblood of FLA’s joyful, mission-driven spirit.
Performing Arts
Every other year, FLA produces a full-scale, all-ages musical theater production that gives students the chance to shine. These shows include:
Acting, singing, dancing, and backstage roles
Inclusive casting from age 5 to 18
Opportunities for parent involvement in costuming, sets, choreography, and tech
A gospel-centered, excellence-seeking, joy-filled rehearsal process
Past productions have included Newsies, Hello, Dolly!, Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, and Into the Woods.
On “off years,” we may offer smaller-scale performing arts opportunities during Friday classes—such as short plays, dance numbers, or musical reviews—designed around student interest and mentor inspiration.
Family Activities
FLA is a family-powered community. We love to learn together, serve together, and just be together. Throughout the year, we host events that bring the entire family into the FLA experience.
Some of our favorite events include:
Annual Kickoff Family Campout
Harvest Family Dance
Mother–Daughter and Father–Son Activities
Family Ball & Graduation
STEM and Gospel Bee Competitions
Semester Showcases
Friday Park Days (including a summer rotation!)
These events build friendships across ages, unify families, and give everyone something to look forward to—together.
